About CCAF-FCVI Inc.
Canada’s Leader in Research on Public Sector Accountability
CCAF was created in 1980 as the Canadian Comprehensive Auditing Foundation with a mandate to promote the then-new concept of comprehensive auditing. Since then, we have expanded our focus to include governance and management as well as audit. To reflect this broader role, we condensed our name to CCAF-FCVI Inc.
CCAF provides an impartial forum where governing-body members, public sector executives, legislative auditors and professional service providers can engage to advance their common interests. The focus for, and beneficiary of, our work is the public sector. CCAF is committed to increasing excellence in public sector management, governance and accountability.
CCAF’s multi-year Public Performance Reporting research program, launched in the late 1990s, aimed to help governments and other public sector institutions advance their public performance reports toward a “next generation” of reporting. The foundation was instrumental in the development of a set of principles to guide governments in reporting on their performance. The principles, developed in consultation with legislative auditors, senior government executives, and federal and provincial legislators, were released publicly in 2003.
More recently, we have worked closely with the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants as it developed a Statement of Recommended Practice for public performance reporting. A comprehensive overview of CCAF’s contribution to performance reporting can be viewed here.
